California coach Diane Ninemire
On the game: "I like the idea that we came out and had 15 single hits. We really put the pressure on. We played good defense, even though I thought the first inning we were a little jittery. Then after that first inning I felt that we settled in and made good pitch selections. To get 15 hits and they were all singles in outstanding."
On coming in and getting a good win out of the way: "It's outstanding. But we don't feel the pressure being the national champions. That was last year. We are coming into this year and just playing it one game at a time. We realize that every team here at this regional is a quality team and we have to play to our best ability. We can only control what we do. So, our goal for this tournament is to play to the best of our ability."
On facing host Michigan: "Michigan is an outstanding team. We've played them over the past couple of years and the games have always been tough. I expect nothing less than that tomorrow. They have an outstanding pitcher in Marissa Young and they are just a good hitting club. They won big today so it is going to be a good game tomorrow. Two good teams going against each other."
