  • Texas improved to 2-0 in this year's WCWS. Nineteen of the 21 WCWS champions have won the first two games in the tournament.

  • Texas now leads its all-time series with California, 3-0.

  • Texas has outscored its opponents 67-9 during its current school-record 20-game winning streak.

  • Texas pitcher Cat Osterman recorded her 10th strikeout of the game for the final out of the fourth inning, which marked the 29th time this season that the sophomore has fanned 10 or more batters. It also marked the ninth consecutive game that Osterman has registered double-digit strikeouts (she finished with 17 tonight). Osterman has 18 shutouts in 34 starts this season.

  • Osterman leads all 2003 WCWS pitchers with 28 strikeouts. Arizona's Alicia Hollowell is second with 26.

  • California third baseman Vicky Galindo recorded the second Golden Bears hit against Osterman, which snapped a streak of five games that Osterman had held her opponents to one hit.

  • Texas snapped California's five-game WCWS winning streak and its 13 game postseason winning streak.

  • Tamara Poppe continues to lead the Longhorn attack after going 1-for-3 tonight. Poppe is hitting .631 (12-for-19) in NCAA postseason play with three home runs and six RBIs.

  • The total attendance for first three sessions of the 2003 WCWS is 14,005, up from last year's three-session total of 11,810. This year's average session attendance is 4,668.

  • California will face the winner of Saturday's 11 a.m. Game 7 between Oklahoma and Alabama on Saturday at 6 p.m. Texas will face UL Lafayette, UCLA, or Washington depending upon who advances past Saturday's elimination rounds. Texas' next game is at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
