Cal Finishes Strong In Third Day of Winter Invitational

BERKELEY - The California women's tennis team wrapped up the Cal Winter Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Center, as it won five singles matches and two doubles matches. The Golden Bears earned the five singles victories against Fresno State and the two doubles wins against Saint Mary's.
Senior Zsuzsanna Fodor's second set in her match against Renata Kucerkova went down to the wire before Fodor won the set, 7-6 (4). The reigning Pac-10 singles champion defeated Kucerkova in two sets, winning the first set, 6-4.
It was one of two wins on the day for Fodor. In doubles, her and partner Susie Babos beat Aude Lambert and Jessica Hoath, 8-5, as the second-ranked duo rebounded after the loss the day before.
Sophomore Bojana Bobusic was the other Cal player to win two matches. She defeated Vanessa Heroux in singles, 6-2, 6-0. Earlier in doubles, her and partner junior Marion Ravelojaona got the best of Erin Young and Stef Ordoveza, 8-3.
The Bears return to Hellman Tennis Center next Saturday when they host Sacramento State at 12 p.m.
