As a Junior in 1998-99: King saw action in 29 games with two starts (both Washington games) ... had a nearly 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio with 47 assists and just 24 turnovers ... did not play much early in the season, but became a bigger contributor the latter half of the year ... one of his best games came at Arizona when he finished with nine points, four assists (no turnovers) and two steals ... scored a season-high 10 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals at home against USC Feb. 11 ... in Pac-10 action, shot 47.7 percent from the floor (21-44) ... had a team-high five assists and played some of the best defense of his career in Cal's NIT championship victory over Clemson.
As a Sophomore in 1997-98: King led Cal with 89 assists on the year (3.3 apg) while also averaging 6.6 ppg ... missed most of the preseason practices with a disk injury in his lower back and saw only limited action in the first two games ... gained his first start at San Francisco and had seven points and five assists while playing all 40 minutes ... did not score in his next outing at Houston, but still had five assists and a career-best five steals ... best game of the year may have come against Portland State Dec. 18 when he tallied a career-high 21 points (7-13 FG, 7-10 FT), three assists, three steals and only one turnover ... over the final six games of the year, shot 18-for-31 from the floor (58.1 percent) ... also made 17 of his last 21 free throw shots (81.0 percent) ... reached double figures in scoring three times in Pac-10 play: at Washington State (10 points), versus Stanford (11 points, 4-4 FG, 3-4 FT) and at Arizona State (14 points, 6-7 FG, 2-3 3P) ... had at least five assists seven times with a high of six (one turnover) against Virginia Commonwealth ... tied for team honors with seven rebounds against New Hampshire ... ranked second on the team with 36 steals, including 15 in his first five games.
As a Freshman in 1995-96: King started 28 of 29 games during his freshman year at San Diego State, averaging 7.7 points and 5.2 assists ... team finished the season at 15-14 ... led the Aztecs in scoring three times, with a season-best of 18 points in a victory over Air Force Feb. 10 ... also had 17 points versus BYU and 13 points versus Cal Poly Pomona ... paced the squad in assists on 17 occasions, with a high of 11 versus Colorado State on Jan. 2 ... also led the Aztecs with 63 steals, an average of 2.2 per game.
High School: King starred at El Cerrito HS, where he led the team to the semifinals of the NorCal championship ... earned all-league honors all four years ... named honorable mention All-America by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook and McDonald's ... selected team MVP twice and All-NorCal three times ... totaled 1,387 points and 660 assists during his career ... averaged 14 ppg, 11 apg and 5 spg as a senior and 18 ppg, 8 apg and 5 spg during his junior season ... graduated with a 3.5 GPA, was an honor roll student all four years and was class salutatorian.
