REDSHIRTED 2002-03 SEASON.
AS A JUNIOR IN 2001-02: Scored points for the Golden Bears at the Pac-10 Championships placing sixth in the discus (162-10)...also qualified for Pac-10s in the shot put (9th, 46-9) and hammer (13th, 158-11) events...posted Cal's second-best marks of the season in the shot put (47-5), discus (174-7) and hammer (176-3)...that shot put mark is the sixth-best on Cal's all-time list...won the discus event twice, at the Cal Invitational (172-0) and the UC Davis Quadrangular (153-10)...also placed first in the shot put at the quadrangular with a PR of 47-5...placed second in the hammer (176-3) at the quadrangular and third in the hammer (168-3) at the Cal Invitational.
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2000-01: Was slowed by an injury, but still put a season-best shot of 42-5.25 at the Cal Quadrangular...discus throw of 150-1 at the Mount SAC Relays also was a season best...placed first in the discus (flight 2) at the California-Nevada State Meet with a throw of 149-2...mark of 149-8 was good for third in the discus at the Big Meet.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 1999-2000: Demonstrated tremendous improvement throughout the season...set a then-PR shot of 46-3.5 at the Stanford Invitational...threw a discus PR of 155-6 to finish third at the Big Meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Holds Ramona High School's record in the shot put (44-4)...PR in the discus was 141-4...also was a four-year letterwinner in basketball.
PERSONAL: Sheni Danielle Russell was born July 18, 1981, in San Bernadino, CA...mother is Joyce Russell...legal studies major.
