A junior freestyler from Mountain View, CA...redshirted last season...as a sophomore (1999) earned All-America honors after helping the Bears to a third place finish in the 200 medley relay (freestyle leg, 22.41 split) and a fifth place finished and a school record in the 200 free relay at the NCAA Championship...swam a career-best 50.30 (ninth-best all-time Cal mark) in the prelims of the 100 free at the NCAA meet...was a member of Cal's 200 free relay that captured the Pac-10 title and placed fourth in the 50 free at the Pac-10 Championship...as a freshman (1998) broke the Cal school record in the 50 free (22.76) at the 1998 NCAA Championship, placing 16th and topping the mark that had been held by Conny van Bentum since 1986...also earned honorable mention All-America honors as a member of the 200 free relay (22.76 lead-off split) that placed 10th at the NCAA meet...at St. Francis High School was an All-American and Central Coast Section Champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle...holds the Central Coast Section record in the 50 and 100 free...was also named her high school's Athlete of the Year and was a two-time team MVP...her time in the 100 free was the nation's top high school mark in 1997 and her time in the 50 free was the nation's second fastest...majoring in American studies...Mother is Lesley Mattos of Mountain View, CA...born 8/4/79 in Mountain View, CA.
