• Cal hosts Stanford on Saturday looking for its first win over the Cardinal since 2009. One more victory for the Golden Bears will make them bowl eligible for the first time since 2011. A win over Stanford would also be the first time Cal defeated the Cardinal in Berkeley since 2008.
• With five wins in its first 10 games of 2014, Cal has already enjoyed a four-game turnaround from last year when the Bears were 1-11. The program's largest turnaround in the modern era happened in 1947 when Cal won seven more games than the season before by going 9-1 after a 2-7 campaign in 1946. Cal's improvment in 2014 is its best since the Bears went 7-5 in 2002 after finishing 1-10 in 2001.
• Cal ranks in the top 20 nationally in passing offense (4th, 352.8 ypg), fourth-down conversion percentage (8th, 70.8%), scoring offense (9th, 40.7 ppg), first downs offense (10th, 26.2), total offense (13th, 496.6 ypg), red zone offense (15th, 90.5%), kickoff returns (16th, 24.07 ypr) and team passing efficiency (17th, 151.82).
• Cal has set a single-season school record for kickoff return touchdowns (2), tied a single season mark with 32 touchdown passes and is on the verge of reaching several others. The Bears have scored 407 points to move within 50 points of the modern-era record of 457 set in 2003 and are within 103 points of the all-time record set in 1920. Cal's 52 touchdowns are seven short of the modern-era record of 59 (2003, 2004) and 20 shy of the all-time record of 72 set by the 1920 team. Cal's 49 extra points are seven short of the modern-era mark (56, 2004) and 18 shy of the all-time record (67, 1920). Cal's 3,528 passing yards are 451 from the record of 3,977 set in 2013. The Bears are averaging 496.6 yards per game with the record 492.4 set in 2004.
• National honors candidate Jared Goff is on the verge of setting a pair of single-season Cal records as he is 110 passing yards from breaking his own single-season record from last season, as well as one touchdown shy of the single-season record set by Pat Barnes in 1996. Goff ranks among the nation's top 10 in six individual categories including touchdown passes (30, 3rd), passing yards (3398, 3rd), passing yards per game (339.8 ypg, 4th), completions per game (26.20, 7th) total offense (332.2 ypg, 8th), points responsible for (182, 10th), while he is 11th in points responsible for per game (18.2) and 15th in passing efficiency (152.37).
• Daniel Lasco has scored in each of Cal's last nine contests. Lasco has nine rushing touchdowns in his last six games with at least one in each contest and eight of the last nine. His 11 rushing touchdowns on the season are second in the Pac-12, one shy of Cal's single-season top 10 and four short of the school record of 15 shared by Jahvid Best (2008), Justin Forsett (2007) and J.J. Arrington (2004). Lasco has added two receiving scores for team-high totals of 13 touchdowns, one two-point conversion for 80 points with his 8.0 scoring average fifth in the Pac-12. Lasco is also sixth in the Pac-12 in rushing (88.2 ypg) and eighth in all-purpose yards (122.5 ypg). With a total of 882 yards on the ground through 10 games he is on pace to become Cal's first 1,000-yard rusher since Isi Sofele had 1,322 rushing yards in 2011. He has added career highs of 29 catches for 343 yards to combine for 1,225 rushing and receiving yards, which is the most since Keenan Allen (1,398) and Sofele (1,355) both went over 1,300 in 2011.
• Cal has 42 players that have played for the first time this season, including 23 freshmen and 10 true freshmen. The Bears have also used 19 other players for the first time in their career.
