BERKELEY – Cal football sophomore linebacker Hardy Nickerson will chat live with Cal fans on Facebook after practice tonight at 6 p.m. PT. The Facebook Q&A featuring Nickerson is the fifth this season following previous chats with head coach Sonny Dykes, junior wide receiver Trevor Davis, sophomore quarterback Jared Goff and junior running back Daniel Lasco.
Fans can ask questions of Nickerson by signing into their Facebook account, liking the Cal Athletics Facebook page (Facebook.com/CalAthletics) and clicking on the Q&A announcement.
Nickerson has played in all 10 games with four starts in 2014, including each of the last three contests. He is fourth among Cal players with 53 tackles, while being involved in a team-high-tying three turnovers with one interception (8-yard return), one fumble recovery (27-yard return) and one forced fumble. He also has 2.0 tackles for loss (-7 yards). Nickerson has career totals of 117 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss (-23 yards), 1.0 sack (-7 yards), one interception (8 return yards), one pass breakup, two fumble recoveries (27 return yards) and two forced fumbles.
Nickerson is the son of Hardy Nickerson, a member of the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame who still ranks second on the school's all-time list for tackles, played 16 NFL seasons and is currently the linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Nickerson's four Cal teams posted a 2-2 Big Game record against Stanford from 1983-86.
Nickerson and the Golden Bears will host Stanford this Saturday in the 117th Big Game at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised live by FOX Sports 1 and kick off at 1 p.m. PT. Audio broadcasts of all Cal football games are also available on KGO 810 AM, the Cal IMG Sports Network, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and online at CalBears.com via TuneIn.
Both teams are 5-5 overall and one win shy of bowl eligibility, with the Bears last playing in a bowl in 2011. At least a share of second place in the final Pac-12 North Standings is also on the line between a Stanford squad with a 3-4 conference record and a Bears team that is 3-5 in league play.
Cal will close out the 2014 regular season at home against BYU on Saturday, Nov. 29. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Networks and kick off at either 1:30 or 3 p.m. PT. The final kickoff time is scheduled to be announced either this Saturday or Sunday.
