Lasco Earns One Honor, Up for Another

BERKELEY – Junior running back Daniel Lasco earned one honor Monday and was selected as a nominee for another for his performance in Cal's 45-31 victory last Saturday at Oregon State. Lasco earned honorable mention honors from the College Football Performance Awards for its national Running Back Performer of the Week honor, while he is a SEVEN Magazine Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Award nominee with the winner of that award to be determined by fan voting on Facebook.
Lasco set career highs with 30 carries for 188 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground while adding a two-point conversion for a total of 20 points to lead Cal to its first victory in Corvallis since 2006. Lasco's three rushing scores and 30 carries were the most by a Cal player since Shane Vereen rushed 42 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns at Stanford in 2009, while his 188 rushing yards were the most since Isi Sofele had 190 against Oregon State in a home game at AT&T Park in 2011. Lasco added one catch for 20 yards against the Beavers to total a career-high 208 all-purpose yards. Lasco has now scored at least one touchdown in eight straight games, including five contests in a row and has a rushing score in seven of the last eight games. Lasco has also added two receiving touchdowns in 2014 and is second in the Pac-12 in total touchdowns (12) and second among non-kickers in scoring (74 points), adding the two-point conversion. Lasco is tied for 16th nationally in rushing TDs (10). He is also fifth in the Pac-12 in both rushing yards (796) and rushing yards per game (88.4 ypg), ranking and 29th and 41st nationally. In addition, Lasco has 324 receiving yards on 27 catches for a combined 1,120 combined rushing and receiving yards, the most by a Cal player since 2011 when Keenan Allen totaled 1,398 and Isi Sofele had 1,355.
Cal (5-4, 3-4 Pac-12) is one win from becoming bowl eligible for the first time since 2011 and in the midst of a bye week.
The Golden Bears return to action on the road against USC in a prime-time ESPN contest at the Los Angeles Coliseum on Thursday, Nov. 13 (6 p.m. PT).
Cal closes out the regular season with a pair of home contests in Berkeley in the 117th Big Game against Stanford (Saturday, Nov. 22) and BYU (Saturday, Nov. 29).
Times and broadcast networks for the Stanford and BYU contests are scheduled to be announced either six or 12 days in advance of each game.
