Facebook Q&A with Sonny Dykes Monday at 1:15 p.m. PT
BERKELEY – Cal football head coach Sonny Dykes will chat live with Cal fans on Facebook this Monday, Nov. 10 (1:15 p.m. PT). The Facebook Q&A featuring Dykes is the fourth this season with sophomore quarterback Jared Goff, junior running back Daniel Lasco and junior wide receiver Trevor Davis having previously participated.
Fans can ask questions of Dykes by signing into their Facebook account, liking the Cal Athletics Facebook page (Facebook.com/CalAthletics) and clicking on the Q&A announcement.
Dykes is moving full-steam ahead with the rebuilding of the Cal football program and has the Golden Bears at 5-4 overall and one victory away from becoming bowl eligible for the first time since 2011 in his second season as head coach. Cal is in third place in the Pac-12 North with a 3-4 conference mark.
Dykes and the Bears started the 2014 season with four wins in their first five games with Cal receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and USA Today national polls for the first time since 2011. The Bears were also in first place in the Pac-12 North three games into the conference schedule for the first time since 2006 after a wild 60-59 win at Washington State on Oct. 4. After dropping three straight conference games, the Bears rebounded in their most recent contest with their first road victory over Oregon State since 2006 and third win in four road games this season.
Cal ranks in the top 20 nationally in eight offensive categories through the first nine games of the 2014 campaign – passing offense (4th, 361.0 ypg), scoring offense (8th, 41.9 ppg), total offense (11th, 509.1 ypg), first downs (12th, 235), fourth-down conversion percentage (T17th, 66.7%), team passing efficiency (18th, 154.54), red zone offense (T18th, 89.7%) and third-down conversion percentage (19th, 47.5%).
The Bears return to action with their final road game of the regular season against USC in a prime-time ESPN contest at the Los Angeles Coliseum this Thursday, Nov. 13 (6 p.m. PT) before a pair of home contests – the 117th Big Game against Stanford (Saturday, Nov. 22) and BYU (Saturday, Nov. 29) – close out the regular season.
