James Hahn First Cal Player To Win On PGA TOUR

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – James Hahn became the first former Cal golfer to win on the PGA TOUR when he was victorious in a three-way playoff at the Northern Trust Open. Hahn made a 23-foot birdie putt on the third playoff hole on the par-three 14th hole at Riviera Country Club to outlast Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey. Hahn's highest previous finish in a PGA TOUR event was a third-place showing at the 2013 Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Hahn (66-74-69-69 – 278, -6) finished regulation play tied for the lead with Johnson (70-72-67-69 – 278, -6) and Casey (70-69-71-68 – 278, -6).
All three players would make par on the first playoff hole (18) before Hahn and Johnson both birdied the second (10) to advance to the third and deciding playoff hole on the par-three 14th hole.
Hahn was away and would putt first, making his 23-footer and when Johnson missed his subsequent 15-footer the victory went to Hahn.
The victory also assured Hahn a spot in the 2015 field for The Masters.
"This is amazing," Hahn said after the victory. "I birdied two playoff holes and to beat Paul Casey and Dustin Johnson, two great competitors, I'm just lucky to be here right now."

Hahn had started Sunday's final round tied for seventh place four shots out of the lead.
Hahn played collegiately at Cal during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
