Cal-Arizona State Notes

Cal-Arizona State Notes

With tonight's 75-70 California victory over Arizona State, the Golden Bears improved to 12-0 at Haas Pavilion this season. The last time Cal was 12-0 at home to start a season was the 2011-12 season when the Bears won their first 14 games on the home court.

The Sun Devils now lead the all-time series, 40-38. Tonight was Cal's first victory over ASU since Feb. 4, 2012, as the Sun Devils had won the previous five meetings before tonight.

Cal, as a team, shot a season-best 55 percent from the field.

Ivan Rabb paced the Bears in scoring with a career-high 20 points and eight rebounds. He was good on eight of his 11 field goal attempts after entering the contest shooting 64.0 percent from the field. Rabb also added a career-best six assists.

Jaylen Brown also reached double figures with 17, connecting on five of the seven shots he took.

With his two treys tonight, Jordan Mathews is now two three-pointers shy of Patrick Christopher (2007-10) for fifth on Cal's career three-point list. He has also made nine of his last 17 three-point attempts in his last three games. He finished the night as Cal's third scorer to reach double figures with 10 points.

Sam Singer tied his career high with eight assists. The last time he reached that total was against Syracuse on Nov. 20, 2014. He also notched a personal-best six rebounds, his most since garnering five against Washington last season.

The Bears drained seven shots from 3-point range. Cal has made at least five 3-point shots in 16 of its past 17 games.

Having entered the game with 96 blocks, the Bears added eight more to that total, including four from Kingsley Okoroh, tying his personal best, and three from Rabb.

Nine of the 10 Bears who played tonight made at least one field goal.
