Cal-Arizona State Postgame Notes

  • With Saturday's 68-65 victory, Cal improved to 22-9 on the year, giving the Bears at least 22 wins in the regular season for only the fourth time since 1959-60. The other seasons came in 1993-94 (22 wins), 2008-09 (22) and 2011-12 (23).
  • Tyrone Wallace scored 24 points, matching his season high (also vs. UC Santa Barbara Nov. 16). It was his first 20-point game in Pac-12 play this year. He scored 19 points in the second half and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
  • Wallace increased his career scoring total to 1,591 points, which ranks ninth all—time at Cal. Next up is No. 8 Leonard Taylor (1,608, 1985-89).
  • By shooting 4-for-9 from 3-point range, Jordan Mathews has now connected on multiple 3-pointers 24 times this year. He has made at least four 3-pointers in a game eight times this season. Mathews has 81 3-pointers on the year, extending his own career high. The total ranks fourth in Cal history, just one behind Jerome Randle's 82 from 2008-09 and two behind Allen Crabbe's 83 from 2011-12.
  • On Cal's career scoring list, Mathews moved to 32nd place. His 18 points vs. ASU give him 1,351 total points.
  • Ivan Rabb moved up to second on Cal's freshman rebounding list. With his five boards vs. Arizona State, he now has 259 on the season and trails only record-holder Ryan Anderson, who had 269 rebounds in 2006-07.
  • Wallace dished out five assists to move up to sixth on Cal's career list, now with 426. On Saturday, he passed Jorge Gutierrez (423 from 2009-12).
