A surging California field hockey squad, victorious in five consecutive games, looks to continue its win streak as the Golden Bears take on the UC Davis Aggies in their second game of conference play. Game time is set for 3 p.m. Friday at the Aggie Field Hockey Facility in Davis, Calif.

The Bears own a five-game win streak for the first time since 2011 and head into this weekend's competition ranked among the nation's top 15 teams in four categories: Assists Per Game (10th, 2.67), Points Per Game (13th, 8.44), Goals Per Game (14th, 2.89) and Scoring Average (14th, 2.78). A win in Friday's contest would give the Bears their longest win streak since 2007, when Cal won seven consecutive games and took a share of the conference crown. So far, Cal is undefeated on the road.

"Playing UC Davis in Davis has been a problem for us in the last couple of years and I have great respect for their new coach. We will be better prepared this year for a typical divisional conference battle."

• Cal ranks top 15 in the nation in four categories: Assists Per Game (10th, 2.67), Points Per Game (13th, 8.44), Goals Per Game (14th, 2.89) and Scoring Average (14th, 2.78).

• Cal is only one goal away from matching its scoring output (27 goals) from last season.

• Megan Rodgers and Katrina Carter each have two game-winning goals this season.

• Rodgers leads the America East in goals per game (1.11) and points per game (2.44).

• Femke Delissen and Lindsay Mathison each own a team-high five assists this season, good for 31st in the nation in assists per game (0.56).

• With a win, the Bears' six-game streak would be the program's longest since 2007 (7 games).

• Streak: California has lost two consecutive road games at Davis.
• The Aggies have five defensive saves this season, led by Summer Borsack and Kate Young's two saves apiece.
• Kim Van der Meulen leads UC Davis with six points on a team-best two goals and two assists.
• Madison Cohen and Nica Taglieri also have two assists each.
• Six UC Davis players have scored this season for a total of seven goals.
• Chesea Bigelow starts in goal for the Aggies, allowing 31 goals with 64 saves so far on the season,
• UC Davis has been shut out in four games this season.
• The Aggies' lone win this season came at Bryant on Sept. 15, 2-1. 

BEARS TABBED THIRD IN AE WEST

For the second consecutive season, the coaches of the America East have predicted a third-place finish for the Golden Bears (5 points) in the America East, just one point behind second-place Pacific (6 points). Stanford received three first-place votes to be named the favorite in the West, while UC Davis was tabbed last. In the East Division, Maine was predicted as the league's champion.
