Bears Sign a Pair During National Signing Period

BERKELEY – California men's gymnastics head coach JT Okada announced the addition of two new members for the 2020 season on Monday, during 2018's national signing period.

A pair of California natives, Kyle Shuttle hails from nearby Half Moon Bay, while Noah Sano, the brother of Cal gymnastics alum Capri Sano (2013-17), comes from Porter Ranch in Southern California.

Shuttle won the vault competition at the 2018 Junior Olympics National Championships and was the all-around runner-up. He was also the floor and vault champion at the 2018 Region I Championships.

A member of Gymnastics Olympica USA of Van Nuys CA since 2015, Sano's club was named Junior Olympic National Club Team of the Yer in 2015-16 and was the runner-up in 2016-17. Individually, Sano placed first at the 2016 and 2017 Southern California States Competition on pommel horse.

"I'm happy to add another strong recruiting class to our team," Okada said. "Along with a few other specialists, Kyle and Noah will bring the right mindsets and culture this team is looking for. They are outstanding gymnasts and students, but more importantly people."

The Bears return to action on Jan. 12, 2019 in the annual Cal Benefit Cup in Berkeley.
