BERKELEY – The Cal beach volleyball team placed six student-athletes on the 2018 Pac-12 All-Academic Team on Friday, including a First Team nod for senior Jessica Gaffney.

Freshman Mima Mirkovic received Second Team honors while senior Bryce Bark, junior Grace Campbell and sophomores Iya Lindahl and Madison Dueck earned honorable mention.

Gaffney earned the honor in her first season eligible at Cal. A transfer from USF after her sophomore year, student-athletes must be active at their current institution for one year before being able to be considered for the team. Gaffney recently graduated from Cal with a degree in Public Health and a 3.72 GPA.

Gaffney was also a Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team selection for Cal's indoor volleyball team last fall.

Mirkovic, an undeclared freshman, has a cumulative GPA of 3.66. Mirkovic enrolled at Cal for the spring semester of 2017.

Bark earned All-Academic Honorable Mention for the third straight season while Campbell received the same accolade for the second consecutive year. Bark graduated with a Media Studies degree and a 3.24 GPA while Campbell is also a Media Studies major with a cumulative GPA of 3.45.

Lindahl is an undeclared major with a 3.30 GPA while Dueck is majoring in Cognitive Science and has a 3.08 GPA.

Mirkovic and Lindahl also received conference recognition for their performance on the court this season, as Mirkovic was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team and Lindahl earned Second Team honors. Mirkovic was also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.

The Bears had the best season in program history in 2018, finishing the year ranked No. 12 in the nation and placing third in the Pac-12.
