Cal-Fresno State Postgame Quotes
California Head Coach Mark Fox
Opening Remarks:
"I thought it was hard-fought game. It was a fun game to coach, and hopefully for everyone a fun game to play in. Fresno State has a team that's had some really tough, heartbreaking losses. They're a team that will continue to grind and find lots of success. They could have easily come into tonight's game at 6-2, and we had to respect their team. We were disappointed in how we played over the weekend. We practiced hard for a couple days, and we showed some progress tonight in several areas. We're leaving here tonight with a win that we're very pleased with."
On Finishing the Game with No Foul Trouble:
"Outside of one foul, I thought we managed the last part of the game like we wanted to. We didn't make all of our free throws, but we made a lot of them. It was good experience for us. Fresno State is a hard team to defend with their speed and quickness. We had to play small ball and go with a bit of a different lineup.
Juhwan Harris-Dyson, who I was really pleased with, ended up playing a position he never practices at. I was proud of his effort along with everyone else's. The credit should go to those kids."
On Rebounding Effort:
"Our rebounding tonight was one area we didn't feel we executed well tonight. I don't think our rebounding is where it needs to be. Tonight, we played an elite offensive rebounding team in Fresno State…We didn't hit a homerun, but late I the game we got enough of them to get the win."

On Bouncing Back After Santa Clara Performance:
"I think we had a great week of practice leading up to the game. As a team, we really locked in and got ourselves ready to play Fresno State, and I think tonight it showed. We had a lot of confidence, and we were able to close it out during the last five minutes of play. I feel good about this win."
On Playing at Home:
"After two losses, it's always nice to come back home. Our confidence was high. We knew we needed to lock in against a good team in Fresno State, and tonight I think that showed."
Â
On Team Performance Tonight:
"I think we did a good job trusting our system. We worked hard the last two days preparing for tonight. Coach had certain aspects he wanted us to key in on, which was our defensive rebounding and playing sound and solid on the defensive end. We also did a good job taking care of the ball and shot the ball pretty well."
On Defensive Rebounding
"Overall, I think we did a good getting out to one of their better rebounders. Fresno State is a good rebounding team, but we got the rebounds we needed that helped solidify the win."
