BERKELEY – Head coach Justin Wilcox announced the first 25 members of Cal's 2020 recruiting class Wednesday on the opening day of college football's early signing period.

"We're pleased with this class," Wilcox said. "We felt like we were able to successfully identify and meet our needs in this class by signing a group of student-athletes that show tremendous potential in football program both on and off the field."

The class includes four players who have won a combined eight state titles as preps including a four-time Hawaiian state champion in DL Stanley McKenzie (St. Louis School), two-time Washington champ DJ Rogers (Eastside Catholic HS) and the duo of DL Rickey Correia and WR Jeremiah Hunter who led Fresno's Central High School to a 2019 state title in California.

Members of the class have also won 42 conference, district or section titles.

"It's critical that winning is important to the student-athletes we bring into our program," Wilcox said. "Winning state and conference titles in high school does not guarantee winning at the next level but student-athletes that understand what it takes to win have a better chance of building upon their foundation to match or beat that success at Cal."

The class has a strong California flavor with 15 members from the Golden State in OL Ender Aguilar (Mission Viejo), DB Dejuan Butler (Antioch), QB Jaden Casey (Westlake Village), Correia, Hunter, OL Everett Johnson (Turlock), QB Zach Johnson (Valencia), DB Tyson McWilliams (San Diego), RB Damien Moore (La Puente), TE Jake Muller (Mission Viejo), DB Trey Paster (Merced), ATH Jaedon Roberts (Sausalito), DL Ethan Saunders (Inglewood), RB Chris Street (Eastvale) and DB Isaiah Young (Eastvale).

Five others – ILB Andy Alfieri (Portland, OR), WR Justin Baker (Bellevue, WA), WR Tommy Christakos (Scottsdale, AZ), WR Aidan Lee (Mesa, AZ) and TE DJ Rogers (Bellevue, WA) come from states that make up the Pac-12 plus another pair are from Hawaii in McKenzie and ILB Muelu Iosefa (Mililani, HI).

The only three from outside the Western states are a pair from Texas in WR Mason Mangum (Austin) and RB Collin Gamble (Flower Mound), while P Jamieson Sheahan hails from Bendigo, Australia.

The class features nine mid-year enrollees in Butler, Casey, Iosefa, Z. Johnson, Mangum, Paster, Roberts, Sheahan and Young. The remainder of the class is scheduled to arrive on campus during the summer prior to the 2020 season.

There are 13 offensive players in the class including two quarterbacks (Casey, Z. Johnson), two running backs (Moore, Street), five wide receivers (Butler, Christakos, Hunter, Lee, Mangum), two tight ends (Muller, Rodgers) and two offensive lineman (Aguilar, E. Johnson) with the skill position players scoring a combined 230 touchdowns.

The 10 student-athletes on defense include three defensive linemen (Correia, McKenzie, Saunders), a pair of linebackers (Alfieri, Iosefa) and five defensive backs (Butler, Gamble, McWilliams, Paster, Young).

Roberts was recruited as a two-way player on the offensive and defensive lines, while Sheahan is the lone specialist.

The 25-player class currently ranks as high as No. 5 in the Pac-12 and No. 30 according to Rivals.
