Bears Enjoy Festivities Leading Up To Monday’s Redbox Bowl

San Francisco Has Been Bear Territory For The Last Three Days

SAN FRANCISCO – The 2019 Cal football season will come to a close Monday when the Golden Bears square off against Big Ten foe Illinois in the Redbox Bowl at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara (FOX, 1 pm PT) but San Francisco has been Bear Territory all week most recently Sunday at the Redbox Bowl pep rally. Check out a little bit of what has gone down since the team's first full day in the City on Friday.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 27
The first full day in San Francisco was a busy one that included the Redbox Bowl press conference, a trip to Alcatraz, practice and a Warriors' game at the new Chase Center – yes all in one day. If you don't believe us …
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28
The schedule for the second day in The City was just as packed with a volunteer trip to Glide Memorial Church in the nearby Tenderloin District, a team awards luncheon ceremony on the 36th floor of the Grand Hyatt, practice and a visit to nearby Lucky Strike all on the agenda. And Steve Greatwood's retirement was announced one day after he told the team following Friday's workout.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29
With the game just a day away, the Golden Bears cut back a bit on their busy schedule as a full team with an early afternoon practice the primary item on the calendar but coach Wilcox still made an appearance at the Redbox Bowl pep rally along with student-athletes Jaylinn Hawkins, Zeandae Johnson and Michael Saffell. The Cal Marching Band and Cal Spirit groups were also on hand to get the crowd fired up.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 30
There will be one more pregame event before Monday's kickoff when the Cal Alumni Association hosts the Official Cal Tailgate at California's Great America at 4701 Great America Parkway in Santa Clara adjacent to Levi's® Stadium. A very limited number of walk-up tickets will be sold on the day of the event.
