Cal right-hander Jared Horn was named the Pac-12's Pitcher of the Week following a career-best outing against top-ranked UCLA.

Horn has emerged as one of the conference's top starters this season, and he showed that in a 4-1 victory over the Bruins on Friday night. The junior from Napa went a career-high 8 1/3 innings and allowed just three hits and one unearned run while striking out 10, which also was a career high.

Horn allowed just two runners as far as third base through the first eight innings, holding down a potent Bruins lineup and allowing the Bears to record a monumental victory. The win is believed to be Cal's first ever over a No. 1-ranked team.

Since returning from an appendectomy that cost him the season's first month, Horn has rounded into one of the Pac-12's best on the mound.
Through seven starts, the 6-foot-4 right-hander is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA that ranks second in the conference and 17th nationally.

Horn has struck out 29 and allowed 26 hits and nine walks in 39 1/3 innings, posting a sterling 0.89 WHIP.
