For their efforts in defeating No. 7 Cal Poly and No. 20 Stanford last weekend, Cal sophomore Alexia Inman and senior Mia Merino were named the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week on Tuesday.

Inman and Merino were honored for their play at the No. 4 position where they defeated their counterparts from Cal Poly 21-17, 21-17 and Stanford 21-16, 13-21, 15-7. It was also the first time the two had played together all season.

It has been quite the day for Inman, who also is celebrating her 20th birthday. 

It marked Cal's first Pair of the Week award this season and second in program history. Grace Campbell and Maddie Micheletti took the honor last season.

Inman and Merino will not have much time to celebrate their award, as the Bears travel to Los Angeles this week for the Pac-12 Championship. Cal enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed and will face off against Arizona State in the first round on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
