Morikawa And Crampton Earn First-Team All-Pac-12 Honors; Limbhasut Second Team, Song All-Freshman Team
SAN FRANCISCO – Cal's National Player of the Year candidate
Collin Morikawa added to a long list of prestigious honors Tuesday when he was named the Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Year as selected by the league's coaches. Morikawa, who won Pac-12 individual medalist honors for the first time last week, becomes only the second player in Cal history to win the conference's top play honor following Michael Kim's selection in 2013.
"It's truly an honor to be named the Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Year," Morikawa said. "This conference is one of the strongest each and every year and to have the opportunity to go up against competitive teams and players year round is exactly what college athletics is about. It's been one of my goals to earn this award and to finally make it happen in my senior year is special. I wouldn't be here without all the tremendous support from my coaches, team and family."
Morikawa also became the first Cal player to ever earn first-team All-Pac-12 honors in each of his four seasons and was joined on the first team for the first time by
Sebastian Crampton, who followed up his second-team selection in 2017-18 after being an honorable mention pick in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
KK Limbhasut was a second-team choice after being a first-teamer in 2015-16 and 2017-18, as well as an honorable mention selection in 2014-15.
James Song rounded out Cal's conference honorees by being named to the Pac-12's All-Freshman Team.
The Golden Bears will learn where they will play next in NCAA Regional action May 13-15 when the announcement is made live May 1 on GOLF Channel's Golf Central. The top five teams from each of six NCAA Regionals will advance to play in the 30-team field May 24-29 at the NCAA Championships hosted by Arkansas.
