ORLANDO, Fla. – After a long wait to play their Tuesday opener of the NCAA Doubles Championship, Cal's 28th-ranked Yuta Kikuchi and Jacob Brumm won in straight sets over Bryant's Wilson Dong and Matt Kuhar in the last match of the night to advance to the second round.

The Golden Bears defeated the 76th-ranked Bulldogs, 6-4, 7-5, and will next play a familiar opponent – and another team of Bulldogs – in Mississippi State's third-seeded and third-ranked Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic in the round of 16. Last fall, the newly formed Cal partnership upset the then-top-ranked Rakic and Borges in the ITA All-American Championships round of 32.

The Bears-Bulldogs rematch will start not before 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday at the USTA National Campus.
