BERKELEY – A non-conference campaign that includes eight home games, a debut at the brand-new Chase Center and a trip to New York City are among the highlights of California men's basketball's non-conference campaign.

The Golden Bears are scheduled to play 13 non-conference games, including four against squads who earned 2019 NCAA or NIT postseason berths, and will be among the first collegiate teams to compete at San Francisco's Chase Center. Cal will also travel to nearby programs USF and Santa Clara, and face top talent in the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden.

"I'm pleased we can announce early enough for our fans to plan and we're looking forward to debuting a squad full of young talent to a supportive and reenergized fanbase," said head coach Mark Fox. "The goal of a non-conference schedule is to prepare you for Pac-12 play, and this schedule does that. We have lots of work to do to get ready for the season."

Fans can get an early glimpse at the new roster on Oct. 30, when the Bears host an exhibition against St. Martin's, but the squad will officially make its debut on Nov. 5 against Pepperdine in the season opener at Haas Pavilion.

Cal continues its season-opening homestand with matchups against UNLV (Nov. 12) and two Empire Classic Regional Round games featuring Cal Baptist (Nov. 15) and Prairie View A&M (Nov. 18) before heading to New York for the second year in a row. The Bears will face a loaded field at the Empire Classic Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project, which features 2019 Elite Eight competitor Duke, NIT Champion Texas and NIT participant Georgetown. Cal will play back-to-back games against two of the three teams from the field on Nov. 21-22 at Madison Square Garden.

A Tuesday tilt with UC Davis on Nov. 26 awaits the Bears when they return home from New York, followed by a two-game Bay Area road swing. Cal starts the month of December at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center against the University of San Francisco on Dec. 4. On Dec. 7, the team heads south to take on Santa Clara in Bronco territory.

The Bears host Fresno State (Dec. 11) and 2019 NCAA Tournament team Saint Mary's (Dec. 14) in Haas before christening the new home of the Golden State Warriors. Cal faces Boston College at the Al Attles Classic on Dec. 21 in one of the first collegiate basketball games to be played at the Chase Center.

Cal completes the non-conference slate on Dec. 29 when the Bears host NIT second-round competitor Harvard.

Cal's full schedule, including Pac-12 dates, game times and broadcast details, will be announced in September.
