Field Hockey’s 2019 Slate Announced
Competitive Campaign Includes Tilts With Four NCAA Tournament Teams
BERKELEY – California field hockey is set for another competitive campaign in 2019, highlighted by two Pac-12 Network appearances, contests against four NCAA Tournament teams and key trips to Iowa, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The Golden Bears open the season against Quinnipiac on Friday, Aug. 30, at Underhill Field before heading south to face the Northwestern Wildcats in a neutral-site contest at Stanford on Monday, Sept. 2. The Bears will wrap up a season-opening Bay Area homestand with NCAA second-round competitor Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 8.
"We appreciate the Pac-12's effort to showcase our two great programs. Between us, there are seven players in the USA junior, developmental and senior national teams, and as a state California is hockey strong," said head coach
Shellie Onstead.
Next up, Cal hits the road for a six-game swing, starting in Iowa City, Iowa, for a pair of contests against two more NCAA Tournament second-round qualifiers. The weekend begins when the Bears take on the hosting Iowa Hawkeyes (Friday, Sept. 13), and then Cal faces Duke on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Cal returns to the Bay Area for its America East conference-opening weekend at Stanford on Friday, Sept. 20. The match will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.

The opening weekend of October features three games on Underhill Field, with the Bears taking on Syracuse (Friday, Oct. 4) and Central Michigan (Sunday, Oct. 6). Cal will also host a neutral-site game between Stanford and Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The Bears make their final regular-season trip to the East Coast for a bout with Brown (Thursday, Oct. 10) and a pair of matchups on the Yale campus -- against Sacred Heart (Friday, Oct. 11) and Cornell (Sunday, Oct. 13).
Cal wraps up the regular season with a trio of games against its America East foes, including a two-game homestand featuring UC Davis (Friday, Oct. 18) and Stanford (Tuesday, Oct. 22). Cal's Tuesday tilt with the Cardinal will air live on the Pac-12 Networks.
The regular-season finale takes place at UC Davis on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
