Golden Bears Reach Double Figures For Fifth Consecutive Year

BERKELEY – Ten members of Cal's women's water polo team have received ACWPC All-Academic Awards, giving the Golden Bears double-digit honorees for the fifth consecutive year.

Rising junior Claire Sonne, currently playing with Team USA at the World University Games, and Aubrey Milham, who just completed her redshirt-freshman season, both earned outstanding status for having grade-point averages above 3.71. Sonne garnered the honor for the second consecutive year.

Four Bears earned superior awards for having GPAs between 3.41-3.70 – rising seniors Emma Wright and Jackie Sanders, rising junior Kitty Lynn Joustra and recently graduated senior Sofia Rivas. Rivas was recognized on the All-Academic team for the fourth time in her career.

In addition, four Cal student-athletes received excellent status (3.20-3.40 GPAs) – Cassidy Ball, Georgia Gilmore, Hannah DeRose and Lauren Charter.

Over the past seven years, the Bears have been named to the ACWPC All-Academic squad 66 times.
