  • After today's 27-13 victory over UC Davis, California won its sixth consecutive season opener, and the Golden Bears are now 79-42-2 all-time in season openers with a 13-3 mark in openers since 2004.
  • The Bears improved to 10-0 all-time vs. the Aggies.
  • Making his first career start, Christopher Brown Jr. earned a career-high 197 yards on 36 carries and a touchdown, the second of his career. He also collected his longest career rush of 26 yards on the final play of the first quarter. His previous career best was 16 yards vs. Idaho State last year. Cal running backs collectively had two 100-yard rushing performances in 2018.
  • The last time a Cal running back rushed for over 100 yards in his first career start was Jahvid Best in the 2008 season opener against Michigan State (111 yards).
  • Chase Garbers connected with Kekoa Crawford for Garbers' first TD of 2019. Garbers finished the day completing 16 of 28 passes for 238 yards and two touchdown passes. He also threw three passes of 30 or more yards. He had five in 2018.
  • Crawford's first TD reception was not only his first touchdown for the Bears, but also his first reception at Cal. He added his second score of the day in the fourth quarter, hauling in a tipped pass by a defender.
  • Greg Thomas connected on two field goals of 44 and 47 yards in the second quarter. The 47-yarder was a career best, surpassing his previous career long of 46 yards.
  • Kuony Deng paced Cal defenders in tackles with 12 tackles and two pass breakups. Evan Weaver was right after Deng with 11 tackles. They combined for 23 of the team's 64 tackles.
  • Luc Bequette notched his eighth career sack in the first quarter.
  • Camryn Bynum picked up his 19th career pass breakup in the third quarter.
  • Ashtyn Davis earned his second career fumble recovery in the fourth quarter.
  • Jake Tonges caught his first career catch.
  • Nikko Remigio hauled in a career-long 30-yard reception. His previous career best was 12 yards.
  • Brown, McCallan Castles, Matthew Cindric and Deng made their first career starts
  • Eleven Golden Bears participated in first game for Cal Saturday: Nick Alftin, Matthew Cindric, Trevon Clark, Crawford, Braxten Croteau, Deng, Brett Johnson, Makai Polk, Ben Hawk Schrider, Tommy Vanis, and Slater Zellers.
