BERKELEY – California women's gymnastics was powerful in pink, using another 197+ score to propel themselves past No. 21 Oregon State in the team's annual breast cancer awareness meet. The No. 10 Golden Bears topped the Beavers, 197.125-196.600, Saturday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.
 
The Bears swept every title, led by a trio of wins by Maya Bordas. The Austin, Texas product was the all-around leader with a new career high of 39.575, and added a 9.925 on bars and 9.90 on floor to win those events. Fellow all-arounder Nevaeh DeSouza won vault with a career-best 9.925 and finished second all-around with her 39.450. Emi Watterson claimed the beam crown with a career-high 9.90.
 
Cal got off to a sparkling start on vault, notching the program's second-highest score in history with a 49.475. Nina Schank set the tone with a 9.825 start, and four Bears in the lineup went 9.90 or better, led by DeSouza's career-high 9.925. Kyana George, Bordas and Milan Clausi all earned 9.90.s.
 
Bars saw another 9.925 score, this time by Bordas in the anchor spot for the event title. Cal went 6-for-6 in the rotation,with every gymnast earning 9.80 or better, and the Bears combined for a 49.275.
 
Halfway through, the Bears led the Beavers, 98.750-98.100.
 
Watterson led Cal's beam rotation with her second consecutive 9.90 on beam. She set he career-high total last week, and was one of four Bears with a 9.825 or higher this week as Cal recorded a 49.225 on the event.
 
The Bears made it a perfect 24-for-24 for the afternoon by hitting all six performances on floor, where they combined for a 49.150. Bordas was stellar once again, earning 9.90. Clausi earned a 9.85, and DeSouza scored 9.825. In her season debut on the event, Schank received a 9.80.
 
This was the fifth time this season the Bears have scored 197.0+, setting Cal up for a strong debut when National Qualifying Scores officially go into effect on Monday.
 
The Bears are home once again next week, taking on Arizona at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. The meet will be live streamed on CalBears.com.
