Former Cal women's rower Rosemary Popa has been named to the Australian Olympic Team and will row in the four in Tokyo next month.

Additionally, fellow former Golden Bear Jacinta Edmunds has been named a reserve for the Australian Team.

"We are so thrilled for Rosie and Jacinta," Cal head coach Al Acosta said. "They have trained so hard to get to this point and we are so proud of the position they are in today."

Popa, a 2014 alum, rowed in the varsity eight throughout her career at Cal and won a pair of Pac-12 championships. She has represented Australia previously at the World Cup and World Championships, and also competed in the U23 World Championships for the United States due to her dual citizenship.

Edmunds, who rowed in the varsity eight that helped the Bears win the 2016 NCAA championship as a senior, was a two-time All-American at Cal and has extensive experience competing on the international level. She helped Australia win the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in the eight and a bronze the previous year. She has also medaled in the World Rowing Cup and competed at the U23 World Championships.

The rowing event runs July 23-30 at the Sea Forest Waterway near Central Tokyo.
