BERKELEY – California's men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA West Regional Championships on Friday.

The meet will be held at Chambers Creek Regional Park and hosted by the University of Washington. The women's 6,000-meter race will kick off at 10 a.m. PT with the men's 10,000-meter race beginning at 11 am. Live results can be found here.

The Bears are coming off the Pac-12 Championships in which the men placed ninth and the women placed 10th. Junior Gabriel Abbes was the top finisher on the men's side while fellow junior Claire Yerby led the Bears for the women's team.

Friday's competition features a strong field, with Stanford, Oregon and Washington each nationally ranked in both the men's and women's polls. At last year's NCAA West Regionals, the Cal women's squad took 17th while the men clinched 18th.

Seven student-athletes from each side will toe the line at the NCAA West Regionals, including three men and four women who will be competing in their first-ever regional championships.

Yerby will lead the women's side, alongside fellow returner Natalie Weiner, who was the third-finisher for Cal last time out. Georgia McCorkle was the No. 2 scorer for the Bears at the conference championships and will look to improve upon her last race, which was her personal-best mark in the 6,000-meter at 21:23.5.

On the men's side, Abbes will don the Blue & Gold with fellow leader of the pack, Garrett MacQuiddy. MacQuiddy was Cal's top-finisher at last year's NCAA West Regionals and has been a consistent top-scorer for the Bears again this season. Carrick Denker took another scoring slot at last year's regional championships and will also bolster the men's squad again this weekend.
