No. 14 Bears Take 200 Free Relay In Minnesota
Cal Registers Five Top-5 Finishes On Day Two
MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 14 Cal women's swimming & diving team notched a big victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay on Thursday evening at the Minnesota Invitational.
The team of
Eloise Riley,
McKenna Stone,
Ella Mazurek and
Emma Davidson clocked a time of 1:28.51, narrowly defeating No. 1 Texas and registering a provisional NCAA qualifying mark in the process. The Bears' B-relay team also finished fourth in a time of 1:29.33.
Cal also had a pair of top-5 finishes and provisional NCAA qualifying times in two other events.
Rachel Klinker placed second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:40.30 while teammate
Ayla Spitz was right behind in third place in 4:40.67.
In the 200 individual medley,
Leah Polonsky finished third in 1:55.16 while
Isabelle Stadden was fifth with a time of 1:56.33.
Sarah DiMeco also recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 4:46.08.
Riley was the Bears' top finisher in the 50 freestyle, placing sixth with a time of 22.50. Davidson was seventh in 22.60.
The Minnesota Invitational continues Friday with the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
