Cal Opens Season In Houston As Part of 55-Game Regular Season

BERKELEY – The California baseball team is pleased to announce its full 55-game schedule for the 2023 season. The Golden Bears will play 26 home games, 26 road games, and 3 neutral site contests as they look to return to the postseason after advancing to the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament last season.

The loaded schedule features trips to 6 different states and 19 contests against teams that advanced to the 2022 NCAA Regional, as well as home and away dates against traditional Bay Area rivals.

Cal begins the year in Houston for a three-game series against Houston on Feb. 17-18. The Cougars are coming off a 37-win season and an appearance in the American Athletic Baseball Conference Championship. Cal returns to the Bay Area for the first of five dates against Stanford, starting with a non-conference contest against the Cardinal at the Sunken Diamond on Feb. 21.

The Bears make their 2023 home debut for a split series when Cal Poly and UConn come to Evans Diamond at Stu Gordon Stadium for the Cal Baseball Classic. Cal will take on Cal Poly on Friday, Feb. 24. On Saturday the Bears will play a day-night doubleheader against the Mustangs and Huskies before concluding the tournament against UConn on Sunday, Feb. 26.

Cal returns to Texas for the seventh annual Frisco College Baseball Classic at Riders Field, which will last from Mar. 3-5. The Bears will square off against Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. Other non-conference contests include home dates against Villanova (Mar. 7), Saint Mary's (Mar. 21, Apr. 11), San Francisco (Mar. 21, Apr. 18), Pacific (Apr. 4), Nevada (Apr. 10), and Santa Clara (May 2, May 16). Cal will also travel to Pennsylvania for a three-game non-conference road series against the Pitt Panthers on Apr. 28-30.

The Bears open Pac-12 play in Tucson for a three-game series against Arizona Mar. 10-12). Other road Pac-12 series include Oregon State (Mar. 24-26), at Utah (Apr. 14-16), at UCLA (May-5-7), and a wrap-up of the regular season in Seattle against the Huskies (May 18-20).

Cal makes its home Pac-12 debut against USC (Mar. 17-19) and will host Arizona State (Mar. 31-Apr. 2), Stanford (Apr. 6-8), Oregon (Apr. 21-16), and Washington State (May 12-14).

The Pac-12 tournament returns to Scottsdale, Ariz., for the second year. It will take place on May 23-25.
