HENDERSON, NV – High winds and choppy conditions delayed the start of the final day of the Las Vegas Invitational on Sunday at Lake Las Vegas. When the boats finally hit the water Cal's four boats battled the rough water to finish strong.

"On Saturday the team did a great job and raced like the No. 3 team in the country," said head coach Al Acosta. "Today our eights didn't handle the conditions well. We had two mediocre performances and paid the price. Our fours were outstanding and had two impressive races. We look forward to getting back to work and making lineup changes in preparation for our dual with Washington in two weeks."

The day was set to begin at 8:20 a.m. but the Bears didn't hit the water until 11:10. The 2V8+ race kicked things off for the Bears. Over the first 1,000 meters, Cal took the early lead narrowly edging out Penn at the halfway point. Down the stretch, the Quakers took the lead and finished ahead of the Bears by a narrow margin. Cal finished in second with a time of7:11.41.

Next up for the Bears was the V8+ crew. Cal once again was matched up against boats from Oregon State, Penn, and Southern Methodist. The Beavers came out on top finishing with a time of 7:07.84, Penn finished in second, followed by the Bears who finished with a time of 7:13.52, just ahead of SMU.

In the V4+ race, the Bears came out on top, defeating the crew from Southern Methodist by three seconds. Cal clocked in at 7:40.90, followed by the Mustangs at 7:43.05, Oregon State took third and Penn finished in fourth.

Cal will return to the water on Saturday, April 23 for the Washington dual at Redwood Shores.
