Three Bears Earn All-American Honors
Ahyi And Faralisch Earn First Team; Cassidy Takes Second Team Honors
BERKELEY – Cal women's rowers
Lucine Ahyi,
Juliane Faralisch, and
Issy Cassidy all were named to the Pocock Racing Shells All-American Team as announced by the voting committee on Thursday afternoon. Ahyi and Faralisch took home first-team honors, while Cassidy was named to the second team.
This is the second All-American honor for Faralisch, a senior from Heidelberg, Germany. Previously she was named a Second Team All-American by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association in 2019. The senior earned All-Pac-12 honors this season after rowing in the varsity eight that placed sixth at the NCAA Championships this spring.
Ahyi earns All-American honors for the first time following a tremendous senior campaign. The native of Nantes, France earned All-Pac-12 Honors after guiding the Bears V8+ to a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships and a sixth-place finish in the Grand Finals of the NCAA Championships. She also advanced to the semi-finals in the coxless pairs with teammate
Fien van Westreenen at the Henley Royal Regatta.
For Cassidy, this is her first All-American honor. The senior rowed in the stroke seat for the Bears varsity eight at the NCAA Championships. She also competed in the Bears V8+ boat that won its head-to-head race on the opening day of the Henley Royal Regatta, the program's first-ever victory in the historic event.
