No. 11 Bears Claim Victory Over No. 24 UCLA
Cal Notches Definitive Win On Senior Day
BERKELEY – Junior
Isabelle Stadden was a triple-winner while sophomores
Fanni Fabian and
Lizzy Cook each won twice as the No. 11 Cal women's swimming & diving team celebrated Senior Day with a 169-125 victory over No. 24 UCLA on Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
Stadden captured the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley while also swimming the leadoff leg of the Bears' winning 200 medley relay team. Fabian took the 500 and 1,000 freestyle while Cook flew to victories in the 100 and 200 butterfly.
Cal took the top three spots in the 200 butterfly, with seniors
Rachel Klinker and
Sarah DiMeco finishing behind Cook.
Senior
Ayla Spitz won the 200 backstroke while placing second behind teammate
Mia Motekaitis in the 200 freestyle.
Stadden teamed with
Alicia Henry,
Mia Kragh and
Ella Mazurek to win the 200 medley relay. The Bears' 400 freestyle relay team of
Emma Davidson,
McKenna Stone, Mazurek and Stone also claimed victory.
Klinker, DiMeco, Spitz, Davidson, Motekaitis,
Eloise Riley and
Cassie Graham finished their home careers on Saturday, and were honored in a special pre-meet ceremony.
Cal closes out the regular season on Feb. 11 at No. 3 Stanford.
