Bears Suffer First Pac-12 Loss Of Season

Wy Makes Seven Saves During 2-0 Setback To No. 2 UCLA

LOS ANGELES - In the first of a two-game Southern California road trip, the California women's soccer team suffered its first Pac-12 loss of the season Thursday evening, falling to No. 2 UCLA 2-0 in Los Angeles. 

Sophomore Teagan Wy registered seven saves for the Golden Bears (7-4-6, 4-1-4 Pac-12), including five during the first 22 minutes of the game. The Bruins scored twice during a seven-minute stretch later in the first half to take control.

Cal's defense held the Bruins scoreless in the second half. Wy finished one save shy of her career-high of eight, which she tied last Sunday during the Bears' 3-0 victory over Oregon State.

Junior Karlie Lema recorded three shots for the Bears.

Despite the loss, Cal remains in fourth place in the Pac-12 standings.
 
UP NEXT
Cal will remain in Los Angeles to face No. 22 USC at McAlister Field on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT and the game will air on Pac-12 Networks.
