Bears Look To Extend 5-Game Win Streak Against Gaels
BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team hosts Saint Mary's to begin an eight-game homestand Saturday at 12 p.m. PT at Haas Pavilion. The game is part of a doubleheader with the Cal men's basketball team, which will take on Santa Clara at 4 p.m.
This marks the 27th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to the 1984-85 season. The Golden Bears have a 21-5 series lead along with a five-game win streak.
The most recent matchup took place in Moraga last year in a tight game that the Bears won 69-66. In that contest, with 1:32 left in the game, the Bears got free for a layup to take a 67-66 lead. On the Gaels' next two possessions, they missed a field goal and two free throws. Leilani McIntosh then hit two free throws with three seconds left to secure the win.
This marks the first season under head coach Jeff Cammon, who served as an assistant at Cal from 2014-2016. Key returners include Ali Bamberger, who was named to the WCC All-Preseason Team after making WCC All-First Team for the second straight season last year, Tayla Dalton, Leia Hanafin and Hannah Rapp.
The game will air on Pac-12 Bay Area with Kylen Mills and Angela Taylor on the call.

- Cal outrebounded Texas A&M 48-42 including a 22-13 edge on the offensive end.
- The Bears had a two-point lead going into the fourth quarter before a scoring drought led to the loss.
- Williams has been one of the most active players on the glass for the Bears this season. Her 8.7 rebounds per game average leads the team and is ranked fourth in the country among guards in all major conferences.
- Suarez's versatility at the forward position has been on display all year as her 13 made 3-pointers lead all forwards in the Pac-12 and rank third in the country among forwards in all major conferences.
- McIntosh is on pace to average her most assists per game for a season. Her 6.0 assists per game rank third in the Pac-12 and 14th in the country among all DI players. If she maintains her pace, she has a chance to break into the top three of Cal's all-time career assists list.
- Lulu Laditan-Twidale is beginning to hit her stride from beyond the arc. She has now hit multiple 3-pointers in three straight games and is averaging 10 points per game over that span.

- Through the first seven games of the season, the Bears have hit 10 or more 3-pointers in three games, surpassing last year's total in which they hit double-figure 3-pointers in just one game.
- McIntosh and Kemery Martín received 2023-24 Pac-12 preseason All-Conference honorable mention honors.
