Cal Hosts Season Opener Against Cal State Bakersfield
Tipoff Is Set For 8:30 P.M.
BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team will get the 2023-24 underway hosting the season opener against Cal State Bakersfield at Haas Pavilion on Monday, Nov. 6 at 8:30 p.m. The season opener is part of a doubleheader with the Cal men's basketball team, which hosts St. Thomas.
The Bears own a 4-1 series advantage against the Roadrunners winning the first four meetings before losing the last matchup on Nov. 29, 2020. In that game,
Alma Elsnitz made her collegiate debut and led Cal in scoring with 14 points followed by
Leilani McIntosh who added 12 points.
Monday's game will be streamed on the Cal Live Stream with play-by-play announcer Greg Silver.

- Returners Leilani McIntosh and Kemery Martín received 2023-24 Pac-12 preseason All-Conference honorable mention honors.

- McIntosh enters the season ranked 10th on Cal's all-time career assists list with 382.
- Martín ended the 2022-23 season tied for the team lead with 59 made 3-pointers which ranked eighth in the Pac-12 and was good for
- seventh on Cal's all-time single-season list.
- Lane was named to this year's Lisa Leslie Award preseason watch list for the third time in her career. The award is given to the country's top center every year.
- Krimili joins the Bears as one of the top 3-point shooters in the country. Last year she ranked 30th in the nation with 84 made 3-pointers while shooting at a 39.4 percent clip.
- The Bears are coming off an incredibly competitive 13-17 season in which they played the second most ranked opponents (16) in the country. In 9 of the 16 ranked games, Cal had a lead or was within single-digits with under five minutes left in the game.
- New to this year's coaching staff is assistant coach Travon Bryant. Bryant comes to the Golden Bears with over eight years of coaching experience at the NBA and G-League level and has personally worked with perennial NBA All-Stars such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
