Li Scores Big, Bears Win Four Events
Junior Aidan Li Improves Program’s No. 3 Pommel Score

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – California men's gymnastics notched four event wins and a top-three program mark on Saturday in its first tri-meet of the season, sharing the floor with Air Force and Army at the former's Cadet West Gym. The Bears battled hard despite some last-minute lineup changes, finishing the afternoon with a final score of 388.550 to Air Force's 397.650 and Army's 382.100.
Cal started the day off on the still rings, with junior
Noah Newfeld's 14.000 earning him his first win of the day, before moving to the floor exercise, where freshman
Khalen Curry paced the Bears at 12.950. On the pommel horse, junior
Aidan Li shone with a personal-best 14.100 – improving his No. 3 all-time program mark; later, Newfeld picked up his second event win with a 13.450 on horizontal bar. Cal clinched two more event wins to close out the meet, with freshman
Jasper Smith-Gordon's 14.500 on vault and classmate
Theodor Gadderud's 14.000 on parallel bars enough for them to top their respective fields. Newfeld also finished with the top all-around score, posting a total of 79.800 across six events.
UP NEXT
The Bears return to Berkeley for a quick turnaround as they prepare for a virtual meet with Springfield College on Friday, Feb. 17.
