Curry, McIntosh Earn Conference Honors
Cal Standouts Recognized With All-Pac-12 Honorable Mentions
BERKELEY – California guards
Jayda Curry and
Leilani McIntosh earned All-Pac-12 Women's Basketball Team honorable mentions, as voted on by the league's coaches and announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
It is Curry's second consecutive All-Pac-12 honorable mention and is McIntosh's second career postseason recognition after she earned a Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honorable mention last season.
Curry – who was named the 2021-22 Pac-12 Media Freshman of the Year and earned a slew of all-conference and all-freshman team honors a season ago – led all sophomores in the Pac-12 in scoring and ranked 22nd nationally among the class (15.5 points per game) this season. Curry was sixth overall in the Pac-12 in scoring, while finishing in the conference's top 10 in 3-point field-goals made (58) and assists (105). She was the only player in the Pac-12 and one of eight Division I women's basketball players nationally to make at least one 3-pointer in every game this season. Curry's 51 consecutive regular-season games with a 3-pointer made is the longest streak in the Pac-12 dating back to at least the 1999-00 season (no statistical data available prior).
A four-year starter for the Golden Bears, McIntosh made tremendous improvements offensively this season as she consistently ranked in the top 10 of the Pac-12 in 3-point field-goal percentage, while topping the list at several points. McIntosh increased her scoring average (9.8 PPG) from last season by 46% and had 18 double-figure scoring games compared to just eight in 2021-22. She finished the season as the only player in the conference to average at least 47% from the field, 39% from deep and finish in the top 10 in assists (3.7 APG)
The All-Pac-12 women's basketball media honors will be announced on Wednesday. Cal is the 10th seed in this week's Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament and is slated to face seventh-seeded Washington State at 6 p.m. PST on Wednesday at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
