BERKELEY – The California softball team got into an early hole and fell 9-1 to No. 14 Oregon on Friday at Levine-Fricke Field.
The Golden Bears (31-15-1, 7-11-1 Pac-12) got a 3-for-3 day from
Mika Lee and two hits off the bat of
Makena Smith. The Ducks (33-11, 12-7 Pac-12) were led by three hits apiece from Kai Luschar and Allee Bunker.
Cal out-hit Oregon, 9-8, but couldn't push across enough runs, leaving nine runners on base.
Oregon jumped in front early, taking a 5-0 lead after the top of the second thanks to four walks, two Cal errors and a two-run Bunker double. Â Â Â Â
The Bears got a run back in the home half on a Lee RBI double but that was the only run production Cal could get as Morgan Scott went the distance in the circle for the Ducks.
