Sophomore Catcher Clubbed Four Home Runs In Series Win Over No. 24 Washington
BERKELEY – Sophomore catcher
Caleb Lomavita has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Lomavita led the Bears to a road series win over No. 24 Washington over the weekend by slashing .583/.643/1.667 with five extra-base hits, including four home runs in 12 at-bats. Lomavita now has 15 home runs for the year, which leads the team and is tied for sixth in the Pac-12. The Ewa Beach, Hawaii, native got a crucial nine-run rally started with a solo home run in the sixth inning in game two against the Huskies. He went on to slug three more home runs in the series, two in game two and two more in the 16-11 series-clinching win on Saturday.

Lomavita is hitting .307 on the year, with 61 hits, 11 doubles to go along with his 15 home runs. He has 39 RBI, which is tied for second on the team, and has scored 44 runs, which is second on the team.

This is the first Player of the Week honor for Lomavita and the second for a Cal player this year. In April,
Kade Kretzschmar was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week after the Bears won a series at Utah.

Cal returns to action on Tuesday night when it takes on the sixth-seed Oregon Ducks in the first round of pool play at the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament. Tuesday's game will feature live stats and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
