PARIS –Ella Wheeler, who is set to join the California women's rowing team as a freshman this upcoming season, won her second consecutive gold medal at the U19 World Rowing Championships, held at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, the site of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic rowing events.

Wheeler was a part of the Unites States women's coxed four, an event she helped the Americans win gold in at the 2022 U19 World Championships. Her crew took an early lead from the start and didn't look back, defeating Italy by just over two seconds in a time of 7:07.97.

Also competing at the regatta was fellow incoming freshman Julia Irmler, who raced in the women's double sculls for Germany. Her crew was able to make it to the B final, finishing in fifth place with a time of 7:44.46.
