Cal Set To Clash With Oregon

BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team (12-6, 2-4 Pac-12) looks to get a split against the Oregon schools when it faces Oregon on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT at Haas Pavilion.

This game marks the 80th all-time meeting between the programs with Oregon a 46-33 series lead, which dates back to the 1978-79 season. The Ducks have won the last eight matchups with the Bears' last win coming in a 55-49 victory on Feb. 24, 2017.

Oregon (11-8, 2-4) Oregon is led by 10th-year head coach Kelly Graves and is coming off a trip to the Great 8 in last season's WNIT. The Ducks return three starters highlighted by Phillipina Kyei, who is tied for the Pac-12 lead in double-doubles (11) and Grace VanSlooten.

In the most recent head-to-head matchup on Jan. 27, 2023, it was an extremely tight game that featured 30 lead and 12 ties. The Bears had a one-point lead heading into a fourth quarter that had six lead changes. Leilani McIntosh hit two free-throws to give Cal a one-point lead with 1:52 left, but the Bears went scoreless from the field the rest of the way, while Oregon went 3-for-4 to close out the game and sneak away with the 78-73 win.

In the loss to Oregon State (Jan. 19):
- Ioanna Krimili had a season-high five 3-pointers which gave her 300 for her career - a feat only seven other active players in the country have achieved.
- Leilani McIntosh connected on four 3-pointers and had two steals, which passed Karen Smith for eighth place on Cal's all-time career steals list and tied Laura Baker for seventh.

Krimili is one of just two active players in the country with career averages of at least 17.0 points per game and 40% from 3-point range over at least three seasons. The other is UConn's Paige Bueckers.
Krimili has scored in double figures in all eight games played this season and hit multiple 3-pointers in six of them, ranking third in the Pac-12 for 3PM per game (2.7). She is currently eighth among all active players for career 3-pointers made (300).
Krimili has been an incredibly efficient shooter in the nine games she has played this season. She is one of seven players in the country shooting at least 48% from the field, 40% from 3-point range and 85% from the line (min. 200 minutes played).
McKayla Williams' 6.6 rebounds per game average is second on the team and ranks fourth among all guards in the Pac-12 and 16th overall. Her 38 offensive rebounds lead all guards in the Pac-12.
Onyiah has been effective on the glass when she has been on the floor. While averaging just 17.7 minutes per game she ranks 19th in the Pac-12 in rebounding (6.4). Her minutes per game are by far the fewest of any player ranked in the top 25 in the conference in rebounding.
Marta Suarez's versatility at the forward position has been on display all year as her 25 made 3-pointers rank third in the Pac-12 and 28th in the country among all forwards.
McIntosh is on pace to average her most assists per game for a season. Her 5.6 assists per game rank second in the Pac-12 and 26th in the country.
McIntosh is just two assists away from passing Asha Thomas for the fourth spot on Cal's all-time career list. She is also just one steal away from passing Laura Baker for seventh on the career steals list.
McIntosh is 1 of 5 players in the nation to average at least 11 PPG, 5.5 APG, 1.5 SPG and shoot 39.0% from 3-point range. She is also 1 of 6 players in the country with at least 100 assists and 30 steals.
Lulu Twidale has emerged as one of the team's top 3-point shooters. She has hit multiple 3-pointers in seven games. Her 22 3-pointers rank fifth in the Pac-12 and 53rd in the country among all freshmen.
The Bears are giving up 63.7 points per game, the lowest total since the 2014-15 season when they gave up 62.6 points per game.
Four or more different players scored in double figures in seven games this season, a significant improvement from last season when four players scored in double figures just four times all season.
The Bears have had 10 or more steals in seven games already this season, beating their total (2) from all of last year.
