Bears Defense Extends Streak Of Games In A Row With At Least One Interception To Eight

  • Cal had interceptions by Nohl Williams and Cam Sidney to give the Golden Bears 13 this season. Cal led the nation in interceptions coming into Week 7 
  • The two interceptions extended Cal's string of games with at least one interception to eight in a row, spanning all six games of 2024 and the final two contests of 2023.
  • DB Nohl Williams' interception was his sixth of the season and 13th of his career (last eight at Cal). Williams' six interceptions in 2024 ranks him tied for eighth on the Golden Bears' all-time single-season list. Williams came into Week 7 leading the nation in interceptions in 2024 and was also the leader among active FBS players in career interceptions.
  • Cal now has at least one takeaway in 41 of its last 44 games and eight in a row. The last time Cal did not force a turnover came in the Big Game at Stanford last season.
  • Cal did not turn the ball over and has just four turnovers through six games after committing 28 in 2023 (fourth-most in the country).
  • TE Jack Endries had career highs of 8 receptions and 119 yards receiving.
  • QB Fernando Mendoza completed 27 of 37 passes for 272 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. Mendoza's 27 completions and completion percentage of 72.9% were career highs.
  • Cal maintained a 41-8 season advantage over its opponents in the third quarter.
  • Today's contest marked the first time Cal played Pittsburgh in just over 58 years since a 30-15 over the Panthers in Berkeley on Oct. 1, 1966, as well as the first time Cal played in the state of Pennsylvania since a 58-0 win at Temple just over 31 years ago on Sept. 18, 1993.
