Teddye Buchanan Registered A Career-High 15 Tackles

  • The game was the first ever between Cal and NC State
  • Cal extended its streak of consecutive games with a takeaway to nine in a row by recovering a pair of fumbles and also has at least one takeaway in 42 of its last 45 games. Marcus Harris forced his first fumble at Cal and the third of his career that was picked up by Cam Sidney in the third quarter, while Liam Johnson recorded his first fumble recovery at Cal and the third of his career. Sidney also recorded his first career sack and quarterback hurry, as well as a career-high 1.0 tackle for loss.
  • Cal's string of eight consecutive games with an interception came to an end.
  • Cal had a season-high 6.0 sacks that equaled its' most since also recording 6.0 in last season's regular-season finale at UCLA on Nov. 25, 2023.
  • Cal has now outscored opponents in the third quarter this season, 51-8, including a 10-0 advantage today.
  • RB Jaivian Thomas finished with nine rushes for 78 yards and a career-high two touchdowns on the ground. Thomas now has five career touchdown runs and a team-high four in 2024. He became the second Cal player with two touchdown runs in 2024 following Jaydn Ott's two in the 2024 season opener against UC Davis. Thomas' first touchdown came on a 49-yarder on the game's opening drive. He now has four of Cal's five longest runs of the 2024 season (32-yard TD at Auburn, 57 and 37-yard runs vs. San Diego State, 49-yard TD vs. NC State).
  • QB Fernando Mendoza completed 30-of-42 passes for 282 yards without a touchdown or interception with both his completions and passing attempts career highs. Mendoza was 16-of-20 (80%) in the first half to mark his fourth game in 2024 with an 80% or better completion percentage in the opening half.
  • TE Jack Endries had a career-high nine receptions for 101 yards. It was Endries' second straight game with more than 100 yards receiving. The last Cal player to accomplish that was Jeremiah Hunter in the final two games of the 2022 season against Stanford (Nov. 18) and UCLA (Nov. 25).
  • ILB Teddye Buchanan finished with a career-high 15 tackles. His previous career high was 11 on four occasions (twice at UC Davis, twice at Cal).
  • OLB Xavier Carlton had 2.0 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss. Carlton now has career and team highs of 8.0 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks on the season.
  • P Lachlan Wilson had two punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line to give him 16 over a total of 35 punts this season..
  • OLB Sergine Tounkara (1.0) and DL T.J. Boller (0.5) registered their first collegiate sacks, while OLB Cheikhsaliou Fall had his first Cal sack and tied a career with his 1.0 sack.
  • PK Derek Morris made his Cal debut and scored 11 points by making his first three field goals (41, 26, 24) and two extra points before missing a 28-yarder with 1:34 to go in the fourth quarter.
  • WR Josiah Martin had career highs of five receptions and 34 yards receiving.
  • RB Byron Cardwell Jr. had Cal career highs of 10 rushes and 34 yards rushing.
  • TE Jeffrey Johnson recorded his first collegiate catch in the fourth quarter.
  • Cal started the same lineup on both sides of the ball for the second consecutive game.
