COLFAX, Wash. – The California men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA West Regional Championships on Friday, with the men finishing 11th and the women taking home 13th.

Both squads had one top-60 finisher apiece, highlighted by All-Region Carrick Denker pacing the men's team with a 23rd-place effort. Denker, who was Cal's top finisher for the fifth time this season, crossed the line with a time of 29:33.7, breaking his personal record for the 10k race.

"I'm really proud of Carrick Denker capping a wonderful collegiate career with an All-Region finish. He has been rock solid the past two seasons and everything you want from a leader," Cal head coach Bobby Lockhart said.

On the women's side, Sophie Tau was Cal's top finisher in 59th as she broke her personal best with a 20:54.8. Two other Cal women set PRs in the 6k as Amelia Wardle-Stacey clocked 21:02 and freshman Sarah Perkins crossed in 21:13.1 in her first NCAA postseason appearance.

Cal men's freshman Sam Franco finished his first NCAA race in 68th.
