The football early signing period began on December 4 and the first 37 members of California's 2025 recruiting class have been announced by Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox.

Cal's first signees include 16 defensive players, 18 on the offensive side of the ball, one athlete, one punter and one kicker. Of the incoming freshmen, seven future Golden Bears stayed home to play collegiate football in the state of California, while Cal signed others from Germany, Arizona, Hawai'i, Minnesota, Texas and Utah. Eighteen student-athletes have been added through the transfer portal.

The Bears have currently signed seven defensive backs, four outside linebackers, three defensive linemen and two inside linebackers. On the offensive side, Cal has currently inked eight offensive linemen, three quarterbacks, three wide receivers, three tight ends and one running back.

Cal's top-ranked signee - Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele - is the No. 1 prospect out of Hawai'i and No. 4 ranked quarterback by On3. Sagapolutele completed 213-of-302 passes for 3,404 yards and 46 TDs with just 3 INT as a 2024 senior at Campbell HS. His 10,653 career passing yards make him the state's all-time passing leader. Sagapolutele enrolled at Oregon after signing during the early signing period and entered the transfer portal.
