No. 2 Bears Take Second At Metroplex Challenge

Cal Defeats No. 16 Arkansas, Washington; Falls To No. 1 Oklahoma

FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Mya Lauzon tied for the victory in the floor exercise for her 16th event title this season and the No. 2 California women's gymnastics team finished in second place only to No. 1 Oklahoma at the Metroplex Challenge on Saturday night.

Lauzon registered a 9.95 to match four other gymnasts and record her fourth win on floor this season. The Golden Bears finished with 197.400 points as a team, second to the Sooners' final team score of 198.300. Cal also defeated N. 16 Arkansas (196.800) and Washington (196.450).

Lauzon - who is ranked No. 2 in the nation in the all-around, vault, balance beam and floor exercise - also scored a 9.900 on vault and was Cal's top all-around finisher, placing fourth with a score of 39.525. The Bears matched their season-high on floor with a 49.600 - the third time this season they've reached that mark.

Sophomore eMjae Frazier was Cal's top finisher on the uneven bars with a 9.925 while senior Gabby Perea led the Bears on the balance beam with a 9.900.

The Bears return to Pac-12 action next week when they visit No. 8 UCLA on Sunday at Pauley Pavilion. The meet will air on the Pac-12 Network.
