California track & field will compete in its last regular-season indoor meet of the 2024 season this weekend, traveling north to Seattle for the Ken Shannon Invitational on Friday-Saturday. With five athletes currently in the national top-25 rankings for their respective events and a total of 17 program top-10 marks set this season, the Golden Bears are sending their best to Washington's Dempsey Indoor in hopes of putting more athletes into contention for the NCAA Indoor Championships in two weeks.

Cal has two event squads ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country (USTFCCCA) Top 25, which is calculated by averaging the best marks set by a program's top four athletes in each event. Currently, the Bears' men's long jump unit is tied for ninth in the nation and is led by senior Mason Mangum, who rose to a tie for third in program history with a leap of 7.70m (25-3.25) at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, two weeks ago. He will compete alongside sophomore Jason Plumb (7.45m/24-5.5) and freshmen Chukwunonso Udeh (7.38m/24-2.5) and Obi Nwafor (7.02m/23-0.5), as well as freshman Jeremiah Bolaños, who is making his collegiate debut in the event. Cal's No. 18 men's 60m squad is headlined by junior David Foster, who ran a school-record 6.56 in Albuquerque two weeks ago; he will be joined by senior Chase Williams (6.68 – Cal Top Two) and Mangum (6.88) in Friday's contest.

For the first time this season, Cal will have competitors in both the indoor heptathlon and the pentathlon. The heptathlon will feature junior Riley Knott, who ranks ninth in program history, as well as sophomore Parker Terrill and redshirt freshmen Luke Buddie and Seth Johnson; sophomore Torre Anderson and redshirt freshman Mara Lampsas will appear in Friday's pentathlon.

School record-setters Makhaila Mills (60m – 7.26), Skyler Magula (pole vault – 5.51m/18-1), Rowan Hamilton (weight throw – 21.98m/72-1) and Caisa-Marie Lindfors (shot put – 16.53m/54-2.75) will also be competing this weekend in their respective events. In total, 23 of Cal's competing athletes this weekend appear on the program top-10 lists, including three freshmen (Donovan Bradley, Adrianna Coleman and Ashanti Elie).
